Life is short — here are three ways I’m trying to make the most of it while making this world a little better.

Prix pour engagement communautaire francophone — Award for francophone community involvement
French isn't just an official language or a school subject — it's a vibrant community of people and cultures, very much alive in Hamilton and across Canada.
To help it thrive, Hélène Caron Consulting Services inc. donates a portion of its profits to support McMaster University graduate students in the French Department who give their time to Hamilton's francophone community.
Starting February 2023, an annual award of $3,000 is available to eligible grad students — because the bridge-building that makes a real difference takes time, and that time deserves recognition.
This award also honours two extraordinary professors who championed Hélène's 20-year academic career: Prof. Maroussia Hajdukowski-Ahmed and Prof. Suzanne Crosta.
(Hélène herself received the title of Chevalière de l'Ordre de la Pléiade for her own contributions to Ontario's francophone vitality — through her radio show French Toast and other community work — which is exactly the kind of impact this award aims to inspire.)
Carvillo Kitchen – Saving the world one allergen-free recipe at a time
If someone in your family has food allergies, you know the mental load: label-reading, recipe-adapting, worrying about what's safe at every meal.
Carvillo Kitchen: Everyday Essential Vegan Recipes takes that load off.
Every recipe is free of the Top 10 allergens++, whole-foods plant-based, and — surprisingly — delicious. Breakfasts, dinners, snacks: you're covered.
Available on Amazon, it makes a fabulous gift and an excellent fundraising solution for schools and large organizations looking to promote inclusive, healthy, sustainable eating. A portion of net proceeds is donated to environmental organizations.
The Coolest Journey
Let my pain be your gain
Your most energetic, sharp-thinking, adventure-filled life is waiting.
After a car accident in February 2014, Hélène experienced over 350 migraines and significant chronic pain for almost 7 years — until she found her way out, largely through daily cold water swimming. As of Fall 2026, not a single migraine in over five years.
If low energy, chronic pain, or brain fog are part of your story, there's hope for a way out.
Podcasts, writing, online courses, in-person ocean outings, and adventures like The Coolest Journey — Canada Edition in 2027 are where you'll find grounded information, practical tools, and the kind of inspiration that only comes from watching someone swim into very cold water for the sheer joy of it.
